Emerson Umbrella offers opportunities to residents of Concord and its surrounding communities to participate in the arts, and we provide an environment in which working artists can develop and share their creativity. Emerson Umbrella houses 50 individual studios to artists of all mediums, and those artists play an active role in the Emerson Umbrella community.
Artists wishing to join the Emerson Umbrella are asked to complete an application form and mail it together with a $15.00 non-refundable application fee, a current resume, and five samples of your recent work (slides, photographs, CD, manuscripts, etc.)
Applications are reviewed by a volunteer Screening Committee consisting of current tenants and evaluation will focus as much on your willingness to participate in the Umbrella community’s activities as the integrity of your individual artistic pursuits. You will be informed of the committee’s recommendations, and if accepted, placed on a waiting list. The actual waiting time involved depends on the coincidence of your own needs with the specific characteristics of studios becoming available. The more flexible you are, the sooner you are likely to be placed, but it could be months or years before a suitable fit occurs.
