Class #1787.   Age Level: adult.  Experience the magic of a 3-D form appearing, as a ball of clay transforms to a human portrait. You give spirit to clay and voice to your deepest imaginings as you shape a portrait and then a mask, letting your energy inform the medium. Learn how to stand the clay up, how to see in “stereo”, how to determine proportions and ratios, how to use light values in image construction. Learn surface building techniques and how to alternate the analysis and synthesis approaches in your work. Make a smooth and natural transition from the realistic portrait to the symbolism of the mask. Finally, learn to preserve your works with techniques of mold-making and casting with various media.
